Mathematics
Throughout the year, we offer many different mathematics-based event opportunities for our students. Please take a look at the events to get a better explanation of what those events entail.
Math Events
Calcu-Solve
CalcuSolve is a regional mathematics competition and student event that tests the logical reasoning, calculation, and problem-solving skills of students. The activity challenges participants to solve complex math problems under tight time limits.
Texas State University MathWorks Exam
The Texas State Mathworks Math Contest (MMC) is a free, high-level 15-question mathematics exam for middle school students in grades 6 through 8. Proctored by teachers or parents at local schools, the 120-minute test challenges students with advanced problem-solving and serves as a qualifier for the Junior Summer Math Camp at Texas State University.
Equations/On-Sets Competitions
EQUATIONS is a competitive, creative mathematics game played as part of the AGLOA (Academic Games Leagues of America) program. Invented by Yale professor Layman Allen in 1960, the game challenges students to build true mathematical statements using specialized dice-like cubes and advanced operational rules.
On-Sets is an educational, competitive mathematical game created in 1965 by Yale University Professor Layman E. Allen. Sponsored by the Academic Games Leagues of America (AGLOA), the game teaches basic logic, set theory, and spatial relationships to students in elementary through high school.
